ISLAMABAD: The government is focusing on diversification of export products through policy intervention by providing technical and financial support, said Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Production Abdul Razak Dawood. Speaking to a delegation of honey producers, he stressed that in order to explore the untapped honey potential of Pakistan, the country should educate the stakeholders concerned and business community about modern production techniques and entrepreneurial growth. “For this, we need to train our stakeholders so that they can comply with the requisite standards and sanitary and phyto-sanitary (SPS) requirements of high-end markets, which will help increase honey exports manifold,” he said. He pointed out that the Ministry of Commerce would constitute a product (honey)-specific working group comprising all the stakeholders to devise a strategy for removing bottlenecks, which would help boost country’s honey exports.
