Pakistan rejects Indian act of dismantling Kashmir's status: Pervez Musharraf

Former president says the world should not accept this decision and hold India accountable

Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in a strongly worded tweet condemned India's move to revoke Article 370 and scrap the special status for Indian occupied Kashmir through a presidential decree.

Deeming the "dismantling of UN recognized status of Kashmir" a unilateral action on India's part, Musharraf said that India should be held accountable for its atrocities against the innocent people of Kashmir.

"The world should not accept this," he added.

Pakistan rejects India’s decision to abolish occupied Kashmir special status

Pakistan has strongly condemned and ‘rejected’ the Indian government’s decision to revoke Article 370 on August 5.

“The Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory,” the Foreign Office said in a press statement.

It further said that no unilateral step by India can change the disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

“Nor will this ever be acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. As a party to the international dispute, Pakistan will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps,” the statement added.

“Pakistan reaffirms its abiding commitment to the Kashmir cause and its political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for realisation of their inalienable right to self-determination,” it maintained.
