Opposition helps smooth sailing of Rs12.4b budget for 2019-20

In a historic first, the Peshawar District Council passed over Rs12 billion budget in half an hour.

The opposition facilitated in smooth sailing of the surplus budget for the financial year 2019-20.

Peshawar District Nazim, Mohammad Asim Khan Monday presented an annual budget of Rs12.4866 billion of the Peshawar District Council for the financial year 2019-20.

The budget showing a surplus of Rs1.3 million after total expenditure was unanimously approved by the treasury and opposition members.

With budget cuts, UoP runs into financial troubles


Acting Convener Mubashir Manzoor Advocate chaired the District Council meeting held to pass its last and fifth budget presented by District Nazim Asim Khan.

The budget 2019-20 includes receipts of Rs11.765 billion under the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) Award, Rs633.049 million from local fund and Rs88.593 million from district council grant.

The total development expenditure is estimated at Rs1.14 billion while non-developmental expenditure is estimated at Rs10.3 billion.

Similarly, non-developmental expenditure from district grant has been estimated at Rs88.59 million while the estimated non-developmental expenditure from local fund has been estimated at Rs62.87 million while total estimated expenditure has been estimated at Rs12.48 billion.
