LAHORE: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Mianwali on Tuesday against the killing of three protesters by police on Monday during a demonstration against loadshedding.

Three people were killed and 28 were injured as police clashed with a crowd of about 8,000 people who took to the streets in Mianwali city to protest against loadshedding. Some protesters later attacked government buildings, shops and pelted police with stones, Mohammad Waqas Nazir, city police chief, told AFP.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mianwali was also injured in the riots that erupted after police used force to disperse the protesters.

All the markets and business centres will remain closed in the city.

arsalan malik | 13 years ago | Reply @muhammad sharay: punjab has been persecuted the worst in the last 4 years.punjab's petrol, electricity,CNG,natural gas all have been cut off while not a sinle problem like this has happened in karachi .NO Loadshedding of any thing in karachi and sindh.the temporary electricity problem is small and is due to union management tussle and not loadshedding. Why doesn't our media talk about ppp's deliberate strangulation of punajbis??? why are all our anchors dead quiet on this continuing atrocity?
muhammad sharay | 13 years ago | Reply the ppp government has been deliberately depriving punjab of gas, electricity and cng.there has been severe gas loadshedding in punjab for over 3 years now while there has been no gas loadshedding in sindh at all.CNG stations are closed for many days a week in punjab but not one days closure in karachi.petrol and deisel wasnt available in punjab for a month while no such problem ever arose in sindh.karachi's industries have forgotten what loadshedding even means as they have been exempted from loadshedding the ppp's ministers proudly say.whereas punjab's industries especially faisalabad and gujranwala have been completely and deliberately destroyed by ppp. it is time the people of punjab woke up and demanded better treatment from the ppp.In case you've forgotten the first p in ppp stands for pakistan. So, the current ppp should start to think like pakistanis and get rid of their horrific racism.
