Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that law enforcement agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) will launch a joint crackdown to cleanse the province of drugs. He expressed these views during a meeting on Wednesday with Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Khan Afridi, who called on the chief minister at his office.

During the meeting, both agreed to take collective steps to eliminate narcotics. It was also decided that the Punjab and federal governments will initiate a joint crackdown against elements involved in the narcotics business. The chief minister stated that elements engaged in the narcotics trade outside educational institutions will be taken to task.

Collective efforts are required to free society from the menace of narcotics, he added. The state minister said that elements involved in narcotics trade do not deserve any leniency and they will be brought under the net of law.

“Collective action will be taken against those supplying narcotics outside educational institutions,” he added. He informed the chief minister of the recent raids launched by ANF against drug barons and stressed that the cooperation of provincial governments was mandatory in making the country drug-free.
