A few months ago, the Punjab Parks and Wildlife Protection Department started working on documentaries of different animal species found in the province.
The first documentary was based on the Punjab Urial. It will also be sent to different countries, including United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation, in English.
A documentary on the Indus Blind Dolphin will be released in November, while work is under way on a film related to the Great Indian Bustard.

Punjab Honorary Game Warden Badar Munir has collaborated with the private sector to film the documentaries. Talking to The Express Tribune, he said that a detailed documentary on the Punjab Urial has been completed and will be released in August.
According to sources, the preparations for the documentary have been completed and all expenses were borne by the Punjab Honorary Game Warden Badar Munir. However, assistance was taken from the wildlife department to record footage of the Punjab Urial, Indus Blind Dolphin and the Indian Bustard at different locations.
Munir said that aim of making the documentaries was to highlight wildlife in Punjab. “Undoubtedly, the documentaries are the best way to promote Punjab wildlife across the world. We had to put in a lot of efforts to film the Punjab Urial. They are in large numbers in the Salt Range.”

Moreover, four national parks are also being built in Punjab. To this end, studies of national parks in Canada and Europe have already been completed so that local facilities are built on international standards.
Munir confirmed that they are working on a plan to build four national parks in Punjab.
“I visited Canada and some European countries a few weeks ago and went to their national parks to prepare a study report. The report will be given to the chief minister of Punjab and then the national parks will be built.”
Earlier, former Punjab Forest Minister Muhammad Sibtain Khan directed officials to develop national parks.
