BBC One has just released a new trailer of the highly-anticipated new season of historical drama Peaky Blinders and it did not disappoint.

The season five teaser is complete with plenty of the trademark simmering violence that’s powered the show to date, with the Peaky Blinders central group beginning to bubble over into an ever-shifting early 20th century England, reported Indie Wire.

Tommy Shelby, who is played by The Dark Knight star Cillian Murphy) is fresh off a surprise win at the end of the previous season and now faces the opportunity to shape things from inside the parliament, as opposed to the streets of Birmingham.

Trailer review: 'IT Chapter 2' trailer is not for the faint-hearted

It’s the late 1920's and the rest of the Shelbys still seem pretty content to do whatever it takes to assert themselves and their family in the face of an uncertain world.

With such an action-packed trailer to get through, it's likely some key details may have gone under your radar. Let's dive into some interesting points about the return of the Shelbys.

Tommy's in trouble

Right from the get-go, it is clear to the audience that the Peaky Blinders are under attack. This is obvious because we see Tommy witnessing someone being crucified while wearing one of their very notable caps.

Family ties

On another note, Lizzie is a character that has consistently been a key factor in the popular show. But after she became pregnant with Tommy's child in season four, it's likely that she'll be even closer to the Shelby family than ever.  In the trailer, this is highlighted as she's walking the walk with Small Heath's most powerful players.

A speculation

This may be jumping the gun a bit but our eyes spotted the name of another whisky company that's branded on the door. Perhaps Arthur will perform some corporate intimation to ensure The Shelby Company remains on top of the rat race. We predict that blood will be shed.

A love interest?

Here's the first glimpse of Anya Taylor-Joy's new character, who is known for her roles in The Witch and Split. Perhaps she will be a love interest for Michael?

As mentioned previously, Tommy and Lizzie are expecting a child. We also see Tommy is with a female child in one of the trailer's scenes. Perhaps the new season will jump ahead by a few years and if so, we could be looking at Tommy's daughter?
