Data Darbar: Traffic warden foils kidnap attempt

Chief Traffic Officer Ahmad Mobin has announced a Rs5,000 reward and a commendatory certificate for the warden.

LAHORE: A traffic warden helped an 11-year-old boy escape from the clutches of a kidnapper and handed the culprit to Lower Mall police on Monday, said a statement issued by the traffic police. Duty warden Mehram Ali stopped a man named Azeem, a resident of Ghazi Road, from abducting Arsal Zaman, 11, outside Data Darbar, said the statement. Zaman, a resident of Ghaus-i-Azam Colony near Sherpao Bridge, studies at a madrassa in Ichhra. He had left the madrassa without permission to go to the Darbar, said the statement. Ali later turned Azeem over to Lower Mall police, who registered a case against him under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Chief Traffic Officer Ahmad Mobin has announced a Rs5,000 reward and a commendatory certificate for the warden.
