PFA seizes two trucks loaded with tainted oil

PFA seals Hameed Oil Mill for violating the provincial authority’s law

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) caught two trucks loaded with litres of tainted oil after a three-day operation. Teams also sealed an oil mill for its involvement.

PFA Director General Muhammad Usman stated that the tainted oil was prepared after mixing used oil with the oil extracted from animal fat. Teams also sealed Hameed Oil Mill for violating the provincial authority’s laws.

‘PFA working to modernise food safety laws, standards’

He revealed that PFA seized 50,000 litres of oil from the mill’s branches located in Lahore and Hasilpur. He maintained that action was being taken against the mill for counterfeiting, failing to produce records and not handing over oil produced from animal fat to the biodiesel company. The DG added that the tainted oil was being supplied to hotels and different oil mills.
