Dandruff is probably a bodily issue most people have endured. No matter how much we protect our long locks, they can unfortunately succumb to the flaky hindrance. It is usually caused by sweat, dry skin, unhygienic hair, irritated oily skin, among others.
It can be extremely embarrassing to wear a black or dark-coloured outfit but white flakes from your scalp ruin the look. However, fear not, because natural remedies are in abundance where you don’t have to spend a fortune on chemically-derived and expensive solutions, reported Pinkvilla.
According to experts, lemon is the vital natural ingredient that best tackles dandruff. We all know the zesty citrus serves a great deal of purpose while cooking but it is also extremely beneficial for our body and health.
Listed below are the various benefits of lemon and how can you use it with other ingredients, in order to get rid of dandruff.
Apple cider vinegar and lemon
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is slowly but steadily becoming a popular health ingredient. It is well known for helping bring back the pH balance on the scalp and get rid of the dandruff fungus. Mix about four tablespoons of ACV and two tablespoons of lemon juice. Dip a cotton ball and apply it on the scalp. Leave it on for a good 20 minutes. Repeat the process twice a week and see the results! Don’t forget ACV is a great natural toner for the skin, too.
Aloe vera and lemon
Aloe vera is a one of the most effective natural ingredients for a myriad of things. The cool juice of the green, prickly plant is anti-microbial in nature which helps in eliminating the dry skin and itchiness. Mix some aloe vera gel with some lemon juice and apply it all over your scalp. Let the hair pack sit on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it away with regular water. Use this process twice a week for best results.
Yoghurt and lemon
This one is a remedy which almost the whole of the desi world swears by. The natural acids in yoghurt eliminate the dandruff completely almost immediately. Take two tablespoon of yoghurt, one tablespoon of lemon juice and some honey. Mix it well together and cover your scalp with it. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and wash away with shampoo. Repeat it twice a week.
Egg and lemon
This is a remedy which will both give you luscious silky hair and also help eliminate dandruff. Whip one egg and squeeze a lime in it. Mix thoroughly and apply all over the scalp. Leave for around 30 minutes and wash away with shampoo.
Baking soda and lemon
Is there something that baking soda cannot do? We guess not. Baking soda has anti-fungal properties which kill the bacteria growing on the scalp. Mix baking soda and lemon juice and apply mixture on the scalp. Leave for a maximum of five minutes, no more than it. If your scalp starts to itch too much then rinse with water. Follow this practice once a week.
