Ali Zafar: From ‘Channo’ to charity ...

Ali Zafar aims to imparts music lessons to less privileged children.

KARACHI:

Our music industry’s blue-eyed boy has done it again! It is nothing related to Jhoom, his latest album, nor its songs and videos. It’s all about Ali Zafar being in the headlines and creating ripples not only on the Indian shores but on his country’s soil too.

The multi-faceted singing personality is also a painter, model and an actor. Zafar’s song “Dekha” from his album Masty was part of the soundtrack of American film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which was released on September 24, 2010. He is the fourth Pakistani artist after Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Strings and Atif Aslam to have his song featured in an American film.

Zafar, who made his film debut in Indian director Abhishek Sharma’s comedy film Tere Bin Laden, is in the news these days for many a good reason, across the border. Just one step, as far as Tere Bin Laden is concerned, earned the singer-turned-actor great accolades everywhere, especially in Bollywood.

Recently, the chocolate boy won the top slot as the Hottest New Face in an online poll conducted by the Times of India. Zafar is followed by Ranveer Singh of Band Baaja Baaraat. The poll on the Indian publication’s website is known to be a transparent and fair voting mechanism.

When the celeb wins laurels, he thinks it is better to appeal to the masses and has a charitable purpose in mind. Ali Zafar has plans to give back to society. He intends to promote his cause for charity by teaching music to lesser-privileged children. Apparently, the Pakistani prince of pop is in talks with various non-profit organisations.

According to a source close to the singing sensation, “Ali was contemplating quite a few options but finally decided on sharing his knowledge on music with the lesser privileged as he wants to put his talent to good use and looks like he’s found the right way.”

When The Express Tribune asked Ali Zafar about his charitable plans and music lessons for under-privileged children, he emphatically asserted:  “Music is something that comes naturally to me and I consider it to be the purest thing I can impart at the moment.”  WITH ADDITIONAL INPUT FROM DNA
