MULTAN: The Farmers Advisory Committee (FAC) held its 6th meeting on Friday to prepare guidelines for farmers to follow till the end of July.

The FAC advised farmers to avoid hoeing by tractor if the plant height is more than 3 feet to avoid breakage of plants and instead use tools that do not damage plants. The committee advised light irrigation due to the monsoon season and stressed on removing weeds at all costs.

An FAC official said, “Heavy rains can increase growth and, therefore, height in plants and farmers need to avoid using nitrogenous fertilisers in abundance.  The FAC recommended that water should not be accumulated in the field otherwise diseases and other farming-related complications might develop.
