71.5% pass matriculation exams
The data shows that girls performed better than boys.

The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) announced on Monday that 71.5% of candidates passed the annual matriculation examination. According to the results, 227,221 students appeared in the examination out of which 163,026 were successful. At least 82.34% of the regular candidates passed the exam while only 53.47% of private candidates were able to pass the exam. The data also showed that girls performed better than boys. Around 78.75% of girls passed the exam while only 64.54% of boys passed the exam. In the science group, 154,526 candidates appeared for the exam and 124,365 passed, with the pass percentage at 80.48%. In the humanities group, out of the 72,695 that appeared, 38,661 passed with a pass percentage of 53.18%. Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Punjab Higher Education Minister Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz said that the provincial government is introducing a relative grading system while compiling results. By enforcing relative grading, students will focus more on gaining knowledge as opposed to gaining marks, he said.
