HYDERABAD: In a bloodthirsty and sadistic incident of rape and murder of two siblings, the Hyderabad police found on Wednesday night the body of the girl who was kidnapped along with her brother on July 8.

"The girl [eight-years-old Rukhsana Siyal] was strangulated to death after torture," Hyderabad SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh told the media in Bismillah City area. Residents of Bismillah City Block I had informed the police about the body.

The body, which had swollen almost beyond recognition, was found from an under construction unit in the area. A bottle of liquor was also seen lying in the room.

The police and the medico-legal officer at Liaquat University Hospital, who examined the corpse, believe she was raped before murder.

The child's elder brother, 12-years-old Qadir Baksh Siyal, who was also kidnapped along with her, succumbed to knife injuries in LUH on July 9. He was thrown by the roadside on Airport Road in fatally wounded condition.

Police sources claim that the main suspect, Usman Bengali alias Murghi Wala, has been arrested along with his associate.

However, the police are not disclosing the arrest. The bereaved family, which protested on Thursday accompanied by hundreds of people, blames the police for delaying timely action to recover the abducted children.

They brought along the body of their deceased daughter. In his statement to the police, Baksh, who was writhing in pain on the hospital bed while narrating the episode of abduction and his attempted murder, implored the police to save his sister, expressing fear that she would be killed. He named Bengali, a neighbour, for luring them away from GOR colony by offering confectionery and later taking them to the Airport Road where the suspect stabbed the boy.

FIR registered

In the FIR registered at GOR police station on Wednesday evening, the complainant, the victims' father Intizar Hussain Siyal, stated that Baksh and Rukhsana left home around 6pm on July 8.

The family began their search after they did not return. Around 11pm, Siyal was informed by the GOR police that his son has been found in a critically injured condition from Airport Road and that he has been admitted to the hospital. "When I reached the hospital I saw my son soaked in blood and writhing in pain on the hospital bed".

The FIR contains sections 302 and 364/A of the Pakistan Penal Code. It was registered several hours before the dead body of Ruskhsana was traced. The SSP said that the dead body was two or three days old, implying that Rukhsana was killed the same night she was kidnapped.

The child's father identified her as his daughter through her clothes and shoes at Government Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Hospital in Latiafbad where the body was initially shifted. The police earlier doubted that the slain girl was not Rukhsana because the corpse looked many years elder than the eight years age as stated by the family.

"The girl was stabbed and later throttled to death with her dupatta," said B-Section Police Station SHO Syed Nisar Shah, in whose limits the body was found. The lady doctor, who conducted the post-mortem, sharing her initial assessment with the police, confirmed that the girl had been raped.

Speaking at the protest, the father bewailed that though Bengali has been arrested, the police are not declaring the arrest. Advocate Ambreen Siyal said that the police have not shared the postmortem report of Baksh. She said that the police should take the parents into confidence and share the progress made in the investigation so far.
Rukhsana was laid to rest at Baban Shah Graveyard in GOR colony by the side of her slain brother. Hyderabad SSP has formed an inquiry committee of senior police officers to probe the case. The police sources say that though two persons including Bengali have been detained in connection with case, one or more persons are also likely to be part of that gang.

Similar cases

Two months ago, seven-years-old Maryam Laghari was also raped and killed. But the police are yet to make tangible progress in the case. Over a month ago a badly decomposed body of a child was found from a ground near Cantt Graveyard. That child also lived in the same locality of Baksh and Rukhsana. The police have also not shown any progress in the investigation of that case either.
