Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal, addressing his weekly press briefing, said that no work visa has been issued to North Koreans to work in Pakistan.
The United States had earlier expressed concern over the possible employment of North Korean nationals in the China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in Pakistan. UNSC Resolution 2375 bars member countries from hiring North Korean nationals.
He said Pakistan and India will hold a meeting on Sunday to discuss the draft agreement before finalizing the modalities of Kartarpur Corridor.
Dr Faisal elaborated that the Indian delegation will come to Pakistan for the talks to be held at Wagah border.
US concerned over North Koreans ‘working’ on CPEC projects
The spokesperson also reiterated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be visiting US for three-days and will meet President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss bilateral and regional matters.
He said the visit will help “renew and reinvigorate” long-standing ties between the two countries and that both states will benefit on the basis of mutual interest.
Referring to the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, Faisal said that the International Court of Justice will give its judgment on July 17.
He also stated that Pakistan has welcomed the second UNHCR report which has once again recognised the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.
Responding to a question about talks with Taliban in Doha, the spokesperson said that Pakistan is happy about the progress that has been made in the Afghan peace process. “We believe in an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned solution of the conflict,” he said.
Faisal also said that Pakistan will continue to support international efforts aimed at bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.
When asked about the Iran nuclear deal, the spokesperson remained hopeful that all those involved in the agreement will take steps to resolve all outstanding issues.
