ATC acquits three in former town nazim murder case

A special anti-terrorism court acquitted 3 people

KARACHI: A special anti-terrorism court acquitted Masood alias Kala, Asif alias Alto and Babar alias Mota of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday due to lack of evidence against them while announcing the previously reserved verdict in the murder case of former town nazim Dr Pervez Mehmood of the Jamaat-e-Islami.

According to police, the accused on the run include Imran Niazi, Tahir Qadiyani, Zubair alias Papa, Abdur Rehman, former sector in-charge Faisal, joint sector in-charge Rehan, Faizan Ilyas, Sameer Nayi and Shakeel Mota. The deceased was targeted near KDA Chowrangi. His friend, Khaleequllah, was also killed in the incident.

According to prosecution the accused allegedly targeted Dr Mehmood on the directives of Karachi organisational committee in-charge, Hammad Siddiqui.
