
“We, the businessmen, traders and shopkeepers, would observe three-day (shutter-down) strike from Monday, across the city,” Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) President Muhammad Rizwan said at a press conference on Saturday.

Major markets of the port city, keeping shutters down, displaying banners and wearing black armbands to record peaceful protest, would include the country’s single largest wholesale market; Jodia Bazaar, Karachi mobile and other markets in Saddar, main cloth markets at the tower, malls at Tariq Road and car dealers at Khalid Bin Walid Road, he told The Express Tribune.
They have raised 11 demands for withdrawing the strike call, including removal of value-added tax, exemption on income up to Rs1.2 million a year compared to the one available at Rs0.6 million a year.
