Library opens for women at Fountain House

Genres added in library include English novels and science fiction books

LAHORE: A library named Reading Corner was inaugurated on Saturday in the Female Block of Fountain House, an institute for mental health, especially for women.

Fountain House Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Imran Murtaza, Fountain House Executive Member Baba Gayasuddin, mental health professionals, donors, volunteers and other executive members were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Various books were made part of the library for women to engage in their leisure time. Initially more than 400 books were kept in the library. Women also talked about their favorite books and requested the administration that these books should be included in the library.

The genres added in the library include English novels, science fiction books and detective novels among others. The medical superintendent said that books help the reader become more aware of the world around us and add good value to a person’s knowledge bank.

“This is the first step towards becoming a successful person. The purpose of the event was to highlight the importance of books.”

The executive member said that books will change the readers’ views and bring positive change in their lives. University students, staff and especially women members present at the event of Reading Library appreciated the move taken by the administration.
