ISLAMABAD: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali on Friday said that encouraging and supporting women is tantamount to supporting future generations.  He urged for making women capable of playing an active role in development, face a competitive environment and explore new business frontiers. The workshop was organised by the Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) and Women Business Incubation Centre (WBIC) to enhance capacity of women entrepreneurs. He said that the majority of households will continue to remain in poverty, unless serious steps were taken to empower women.  Apart from government and NGOs, urban women should also undertake initiatives for empowerment for rural women. IWCCI President Samina Fazil said that lending institutions should improve access to finance and support the growth of small businesses.
