PPP's Faryal, Sharjeel and Murad lead list of richest Sindh lawmakers

ECP data shows Faryal, daughters own assets worth nearly Rs550m; PTI's Firdous Naqvi worth over Rs160.8m

 ISLAMABAD  : Leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were revealed as the richest lawmakers of the Sindh Assembly as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released financial details of provincial legislators on Friday.

As per the ECP data, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has assets worth over Rs220 million; he owns properties worth over Rs40 million, has two cars valued at over Rs10 million, and has more than Rs160 million in different bank accounts.

The chief minister's spouse also owns 100 tolas of gold.

PPP heavyweight Faryal Talpur, who along with her brother, former president Asif Ali Zardari, is facing a corruption investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), owns assets worth over Rs380 million.

Her daughters Aisha Talpur and Fatima Taplur own assets worth over Rs140 million and Rs30 million, respectively.

Asif Zardari's other sister, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, owns assets worth over Rs100 million, while senior PPP leader Shehla Raza has holdings worth over Rs10.8 million.

Two more PPP legislators who are facing corruption probes - Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and former provincial information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon - own assets worth over Rs60 million and Rs370 million, respectively.

The ECP data further shows that Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani owns assets worth over Rs2 million; ex-Sindh home minister Suhail Anwar Siyal has holdings worth over Rs7 million; and former Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah owns assets worth over Rs20 million.

Another PPP MPA Ali Gohar Mahar's assets were valued at over Rs260 million.

Moving away from the treasury benches, Opposition leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) owns assets worth over Rs160.8 million.

PTI's Haleem Adil Sheikh was found to be the owner of assets worth over Rs10.9 million, while Khurrum Sher Zaman has assets worth over Rs59 million.

From Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (MQM-P), Kanwar Naveed Jameel owns assets worth over Rs50.2 million, while Khawaja Izharul Hasan's assets were valued at over Rs10.1 million.

According to the ECP data, the poorest lawmaker in Sindh is Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan's (TLP) Sarwat Fatima who has no cars to her name and total assets valued at a little over Rs1,20,000.
