Claim CNG stations have first right on gas

ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Association has rejected the government’s plan to stop gas supply to CNG stations for three days in a week in Punjab and two days in Sindh. The association’s Supreme Council Chairman, Ghayas Abdullah Paracha, said a meeting had been called on Monday to work out a future strategy as these measures were inviting protests instead of reconciliation. “Such decisions are tantamount to taking away rights of 40 million CNG consumers,” he said, adding as per government commitments CNG stations had the first right on gas saved from private sector power stations. He said the association had called the meeting to drum up support of transporters and ordinary people to register a strong protest against the decision of CNG outages. He claimed there was no gas shortage in the country but vested interests were trying to discourage the CNG sector.
