Two drown swimming in Soan River

The victims were identified as marketing employees of a private pesticide company

ISLAMABAD: Two of three youth died as a result of drowning in Soan River in the remits of Koral Police Station.

The victims were identified as marketing employees of a private pesticide company.

According to the police, 21-year-old Muhammad Yaqoob, 32-year-old Muhammad Irfan and 24-year-old, Hasnain, went to Gulberg Housing Society for marketing activities. Due to extreme weather conditions, they went to Soan River for a bath.

While swimming they were unable to get a hold of themselves when the currents became too strong for them. They started shouting for help. At this, nearby pedestrians came to rescue them. However, only Hasnain could be pulled out while the other two drowned in the water.

The rescue teams recovered the bodies while the victims’ families were also informed about the incident.

Moreover, a speeding truck claimed a life near Gulberg Greens on Islamabad Expressway.

According to the details, Rizwan Akhtar told Koral Police that he was pillion riding with his friend, Jalil, on the expressway when a fast-moving truck hit them owing to which Jalil died on the spot. The police registered a case against the driver; however, he was released with alleged collusion of police.
