DES MOINES: Seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong plans to ride for at least a couple of days in the 39th Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. Armstrong’s Livestrong team will also take part in the event, which takes riders from the Missouri to the Mississippi at the western and eastern borders of the state. A US federal grand jury is currently looking into doping in cycling, with Armstrong a focus of the investigation. Two former teammates of Armstrong have accused him of taking banned drugs but Armstrong has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing. The report said Armstrong would be on hand for the final week of the Tour de France before visiting Iowa.
