LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority’s (PFA) safety and vigilance team foiled an attempt on Tuesday to supply 1,000 kilogrammes of meat from emaciated, sick and dead chickens. PFA Director General Muhammad Usman said that Saleem Poultry Supplier was providing substandard chicken meat to Tollinton Market. He stated that action was taken against the supplier after conducting on-the-spot tests. He added that all the confiscated chicken meat had been forwarded to the Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company for incineration. He appealed to citizens to purchase the meat of chickens slaughtered in front of their eyes. He maintained that people should take care to check the quality of food items before purchasing them.
