Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan drew Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah saying the entire nation could see his "deplorable antics".

Earlier today, Sanaullah was sent on a 14-day judicial remand a day after he was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) team for “possessing a large quantity of drugs in his vehicle”.

The PM's aide said the opposition and some of media outlets were portraying a narrative that the PML-N stalwart was a victim and his arrest was a political vendetta for criticising the government.

"The public has now come to know the real Rana Sanaullah and the illegal trade he is involved in," Firdous added.

She said it is shameful that a sitting member of parliament is involved in drug smuggling.

"It is their [the opposition] old habit to blame everything that goes against them as a conspiracy hatched by the government..... We had nothing to do with this."

Hitting out at three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Firdous said that it baffles her how the best doctors in Pakistan are not good enough for the Sharif family.

"Nawaz is receiving the best medical care possible and the government will continue to facilitate him within the realm of the law of the land," she added.
