ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Amanullah Kanrani has once again given a protest call for July 2 – when the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will hear presidential references against two superior court judges – and asked presidents of all bars to gather at the SC premises.

The SCBA president has also opposed opposition parties’ possible move to de-seat the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, who belongs to Balochistan, and called upon them to desist from any action that may further deepen a sense of deprivation in Balochistan.

Addressing a press conference in the federal capital on Wednesday, Kanrani said the lawyers trust the SJC and will wait for the SJC’s decision in the next meeting.

“However, if anything negative happens then a course of action will be decided by our action committee. The lawyers will also protest on July 2 at the Supreme Court,” he said.

Opposing the possible move to remove Sanjrani, the SCBA chairman said all political forces have been making compromises while making constitutional amendments. He said the Pakistan Peoples Party has a commendable past and it should not tarnish it by initiating any such move.

He said conspiracies have been continually hatched against Balochistan. “If the province is a burden then tell us. He said that it must be examined why only the Senate chairman seems to be a problem – obviously because he is weak. Everyone must not unite to remove him,” he said.
