HARIPUR: The Haripur police claim to have arrested the suspected culprits who shot and killed two people in an alleged ‘honour’ killing on Monday.

Police said that the suspect, Naveed Rafique, was following his sister — who had eloped during Ramazan. Angry, police said that Rafique finally tracked them down and intercepted their car on the GT Road near Serai-Salah on Sunday and sprayed the car with bullets. The attack left Rafique’s sister and his brother-in-law dead.

Rafique was then trying to flee but cops on duty nearby pursued and apprehend him. They also recovered the alleged murder weapon.

Police claimed that Rafique, in initial questioning, had admitted to killing the couple because he was angry his sister had eloped.

The bodies of the couple were shifted to a hospital and after a post-mortem, they were handed over to their relatives for burial.
