School for Sikh community included in K-P budget

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has allocated funds to build the first Sikh-only school of the province in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2019-20.

A total of Rs5 million have been allocated for this project.

Budget documents showed that the K-P government has allocated a total of Rs130 million rupees for minority affairs in the annual budget 2019-20. Of this, a chunk of funds has been allocated for building the sole minority-specific school of the province in Peshawar.

The provincial government has also included a skill scheme into the budget for the Sikh community of Peshawar, allocating Rs30 million for the project.

Further, the government has allocated Rs5 million as a Sikh welfare package and Rs20 million for holding festivals of the minority communities.
