FAISALABAD:

The suspension of gas supply to more than 350 CNG stations in the Faisalabad region on Thursday has led to a number of public transporters unable to run vehicles on roads, creating panic amongst commuters.

According to a spokesperson from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, the gas company developed a load management schedule to overcome gas shortage by shutting gas supply to CNG stations in the region thrice a week.

He said that a load management schedule was being implemented and warned CNG station owners to cooperate with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, and avoid providing gas to vehicles during the two-day gas closure period.

In case of violation, owners would face problems, in addition to having their gas connections suspended, he claimed.

In this situation, some vehicle owners and transporters already filled gas in their vehicles and at nightfall between Wednesday and Thursday, they began exploiting passengers by overcharging and overloading, as a large number of CNG vehicles were not operating on roads.
