MARDAN: Police have arrested two men who are suspected of being involved in an attack on transgender persons in Mardan.

Directions have also been issued to provide medical treatment to the injured transgender persons.

This was disclosed during a joint news conference by Mardan District Police Officer Sajjad Khan and Operations-SP Mushtaq Khan on Thursday.

The officials said that acting on information, the Takht-e-Bahai police station SHO Manzoor Khan along with his team conducted a targeted operation. They arrested Rashid alias Malang, and Hamza along with a pistol and an AK-47 — allegedly the weapons used in the attack.

The two men are suspected of attacking a vehicle carrying transgender persons in the Jandha Bazaar of Mardan less than 48 hours ago.

The senior police officers said that the suspects have allegedly also confessed to the crime during investigation.

The two suspects were later presented before the media where they admitted to attacking the two transgender  persons — including Arman alias Kaljai, and Farman alias Spogmai over past enmity.

In response to a question, DPO Sajjad said the two victims are out of danger.
