The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s budget for the new fiscal year would further contract the economy.

In a series of tweets on Twitter, he said the budget would “lead to price hike and reduce social sector spending.”

Shehbaz criticised the government for not having any plan or capacity to run the economic affairs of the country.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president wants the government to use the time in hand and revise the budget, making it people-friendly.

The opposition parties in the NA on June 19 have already rejected the budget, with Shehbaz warning that the spike in poverty it would create might lead to a bloody revolution.

In two hour-long speech that marked the end of a week of ruckus in the assembly, he said the tax-loaded budget for 2019-20 would massively overburden the common man.

'Shehbaz is confused'

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan says PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif seems to be confused in his political approach.

Taxing budget may lead to bloody uprising: Shehbaz

In a tweet, she said on one side, Shehbaz Sharif offers his support to the government for the 'Charter of the Economy'; while on the other, he gives emotional threat of not letting the government work.

The Special Assistant said PML-N has no narrative except safeguarding interests of its leadership's personal business.
