LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Youth Wing Gujranwala over charges of running a malicious campaign against Pakistan Army and other institutions of the country. Butt was arrested after a citizen lodged a complaint against him stating that he was running propaganda against the prime minister of Pakistan, army chief and the judiciary. He was also accused of supporting the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM). The complainant further said that the persons and institutions were the pride of the nation. His actions have caused harm to their emotions. Following the complaint, a team of FIA’s Anti-Cyber Crime Cell arrested the suspect and registered an FIR against him. In several of his posts, he allegedly taunted and mocked the national institutions. Local PML-N activists criticised his arrest through social media posts and announced their support for Butt.
