Weekly Inflation: SPI rises 0.28%   (Business – brief)

The index for the group stood at 236.88 points against 233.89 points in the previous week

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended May 13, 2019 registered an increase of 0.31% for the combined income group, going up from 256.83 points during the week ended June 3, 2019, to 257.63 in the week under review. However, the SPI for the combined income group surged 13.12% compared to the corresponding week of previous year. The SPI for the lowest income group increased 0.59% compared to the previous week. The index for the group stood at 236.88 points against 233.89 points in the previous week, according to provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). During the week, average prices of 20 items rose in a selected basket of goods, prices of eight items fell and rates of remaining 25 goods recorded no change.
