QUETTA: Quetta’s newly appointed administrator, Tariq Javed Mengal, on Saturday announced a plan to restore the city’s beauty.

“Besides ensuring the cleanliness of the city, the metropolitan corporation will also take daily action on the public complaints lodged through its web portal,” Mengal said while chairing a meeting of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) officers to review the city’s problems.

He said on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the complaints of citizens, particularly those of traders, through the web portal must be dealt with immediately.

He urged the citizens of Quetta to continue cooperating with the QMC. “We can’t address the city’s problem without the support of its residents,” he added.

He directed the officers to submit a daily report on the cleanliness in Quetta and action against illegal encroachments. “Negligence in addressing the problems faced by the city won’t be tolerated.”

Newly-appointed Quetta Metropolitan Administrator Tariq Mengal has stressed the need for record maintenance and digitalisation of data in the department so that issues being faced by the people could be addressed in a proper manner.

“We are fully aware of prevailing issues in Quetta and all resources will be utilised for their immediate solution,” Mengal said during an introductory session with the metropolitan staff the other day.

“I have served in the department on different cadres; therefore, I am fully aware of the existing issues being faced by people of Quetta,” he said. He vowed to resolve cleanliness issues in Quetta city and functionalisation of firefighting system.
