Hockey: India appoint Nobbs as coach

MUMBAI: India appointed Australia’s Michael Nobbs as their hockey coach, handing him a five-year contract. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Hockey India said that they were unanimous in choosing Nobbs who played for Australia at the 1984 Olympics. “The selection was based on several factors: his experience, organising capabilities and the presentation he made,” said SAI Director-General Deepak Kumar. Nobbs said he was “excited, honoured and privileged” at the appointment.
