ISLAMABAD: A teenager was strangled to death by three suspects allegedly over a friendship with a girl, police said on Sunday.

Muhammad Saleem told the Lohi Bher police that his 17-year-old maternal grandson Azib Hussain had been allegedly assaulted and strangled to death by three suspects identified as Hassan, Adeel, and Mustafa. A case was registered by the police while investigations were handed over to the homicide unit of the Islamabad Police. The Lohi Bher police station SHO told The Express Tribune that initial investigations had shown that Hussain had recently moved to the Police Foundation area from Sector G-13.

He added that initial investigations showed that Hussain and the suspects all liked a girl and a dispute arose over befriending her.

The three suspects then allegedly killed him. However, the SHO said that further investigations were still underway.

He added that the body of the deceased had been handed over to the family after a post-mortem and other legal formalities.

Woman crushed

An elderly woman was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle at the Bhera bridge.

Muhammad Khatib told the Bara Kahu police that his mother, Gulshan Bibi, was standing by the roadside near the Bhera bridge when she was struck by a car. Officials added that the driver of the car, identified as Liaquat Ali, lost control over the wheels and crashed into Gulshan Bibi, killing her instantly. They added that the driver of the vehicle fled after the accident. A case was registered against Ali but he has yet to be arrested.

Youngster stabbed

A youngster was stabbed and left in a pool of his own blood by two unidentified suspects within the remits of the Golra police station.

aSherazam told the police that his brother, Azizullah, had gone to a neighbourhood near Chora Stop for some work. He was roaming around a certain street trying to look for an address. Two keen-eyed suspects, identified as Aman and Asmat, approached him and stabbed him with a dagger on suspicion that Azizullah was involved in some criminal activity.
