RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government is all set to launch a telemedicine service for citizens through which they will be provided free healthcare facility online.

An online health system uses the concept of health information and communication technology to overcome geographical barriers and provide standardised healthcare to areas where corporeal medical facilities are unavailable.

The initiative has been given the green light and will be started from July 1.

According to details, senior doctors and surgeons will be available via the online service.

13 tele-medicine centres to be opened in K-P

The medical specialists will first diagnose patients after which they will be prescribed medication.

Following the success of pilot project in Dera Ghazi Khan and Taunsa Sharif, the scheme will now be rolled out across Punjab.

Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has doubled down on the need for quality health services with the mother-and-child hospital also having been established in the province.
