ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government did not allow the mother and daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to meet him even on the third day of Eid.

“You [PM Imran Khan] cannot hide your incompetence by not allowing Nawaz Sharif to meet his family. He [Nawaz Sharif] developed billions of rupees worth projects but nobody could allege that he had misappropriated even a single penny,” Marriyum said.

The former information minister said PM Imran Khan fully enjoyed the Eid celebrations but did not allow the former premier, who has been incarcerated in Lahore Kot Lakhpat Jail since December last year, to meet his family even on Eid’s last day.

Shehbaz to return to Pakistan tomorrow

Highlighting futility of the move, she said the government could not possibly ensure growth rate of 5.8 per cent by not allowing Sharif’s family to meet him.

“You are only taking revenging on Nawaz Sharif for your own incompetence and inabilities. But you must know that oppression ends when it crosses all limits,” she added.

She said: “Nawaz Sharif is in jail because you stole peoples’ mandate and are incompetent and a liar. Nawaz Sharif is in jail because you cannot reduce inflation by 300 per cent. Nawaz Sharif is in jail because you cannot produce 11,000 megawatts of electricity.

“Nawaz Sharif is in jail because you cannot reverse 150 per cent hike in gas prices and 30 per cent hike in electricity prices. Nawaz Sharif is in jail because you wanted to land the country in the IMF’s (International Monetary Fund] trap.”
