KARACHI: Despite being assured of no load shedding on Eid, citizens bore the brunt of power outages all three days of the Eid festival. K-Electric carried out load shedding even in the sweltering heat.

KE had claimed all residential consumers would be exempted from load shedding on Eid. This proved false, however, as different areas of the city experienced load shedding. These included North Karachi, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Buffer Zone, FB Area, Gulzar Hijri, Korangi Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Gulshan Iqbal, PECHS Society, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Nazimabad, Liaqautabad, SITE Area, Baldia Town, Orangi Town, Sher Shah, Kemari, Lyari, Kharadar and several areas in old city. Karachiites were inconvenienced by lack of electricity amid hot weather and high humidity level.

According to citizens, KE makes such claims and assurances every year but the KE administration fails miserably in ensuring implementation of those promises. They lamented that there is no one to hold KE answerable for its promises. Load shedding was carried out as usual despite the on-going festivities.
