LAHORE: A team of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has reportedly been attacked for sealing a drinks factory selling counterfeit products. PFA Food Safety Officer Hafi Muhammad Waseem said that they received information about the factory operating in Afshan Park, Shadipura.

A food safety team raided the factory, but workers managed to flee from the scene. The team impounded the items and sealed the factory in the presence of police. The items were loaded on a truck to be shifted to a warehouse. As the team reached near Shah Jamal underpass, suspects on two motorcycles intercepted them. They opened fire and also intimidated police driver Muhammad Rafique and other staff.

The PFA team, luckily, remained safe, saving their lives by speeding up the vehicle. The food safety officer further said he feared that the owners of the factory, Malik Amir and Khalid Khan, along with their accomplices, had followed their vehicle and attacked them.
