Islamabad wears deserted look

RAWALPINDI: The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad wore a deserted look on departure of migrant workers to hometowns. The annual migration leaves the federal capital and the garrison city almost empty. Traffic dwindles down to minimal, offices shut, only to open a week after holidays. However, the local population of Rawalpindi keeps the environment looking lively.

The rush on bus stands let up on Sunday and by Monday people were trickling in to board buses to their hometowns.

Though a working day, attendance at government and private offices was thin.

Work will start on June 10 after Eid break.
