PESHAWAR: A police officer has been gunned down in the Khazana area of the city by unidentified gunmen on Monday.

A senior police officer told The Express Tribune that ASI Falak Sher had been assigned to the Nasapa Village in the Khazana area of Peshawar district.

He added that Sher had been tasked with investigating a case and that he was returning to Peshawar after gathering clues when unidentified gunmen intercepted his vehicle and sprayed it with bullets.  Sher had been working as a police investigator as an ASI for a year.

A first investigation report (FIR) for the attack was filed at the Khazana police station and an investigation has been initiated while
a limited search operation has been carried out to apprehend the culprits. However, no arrests have been reported yet.
