Christian Bale, Matt Damon take the ride of a lifetime in 'Ford v Ferrari' trailer

The onscreen duo is out to build a Grand Prix-winning car in the latest project from 'Logan' director

Following stellar action stints in 2010's The Fighter, Hollywood A-listers Christian Bale and Matt Damon are reuniting for James Mangold's upcoming drama, Ford v Ferrari.

The onscreen duo is on a mission to build a Grand Prix-winning car in the latest outing from the Logan director.

Based on the true story of Ford’s attempt to build a better car than Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, the biographical drama also stars Caitriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Josh Lucas, Tracy Letts and Noah Jupe.

The film unravels Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca’s dream of beating the luxury sports brand in the championship.


Bale is playing Ken Miles, while Damon takes on the role of Carroll Shelby. The premise gets audiences excited, courtesy the star-studded cast. These elements should be enough to get viewers to cinema houses and the trailer certainly helps to uplift our moods.

Mangold wrote the script along with Jason Keller, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth.

Fox originally had the rights to A J Baime’s book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, And Their Battle for Speed And Glory At Le Mans and was planning on using it as the source material.

Those rights have since ended up at Legendary, who are adapting the book into a TV series. Mangold and company ended up using different sources instead.

Mangold was initially going to follow-up Logan with a film about the kidnapping and subsequent radicalisation of an American heiress Patty Hearst. But the Hearst family strongly objected to the film and the project was eventually cancelled.
