PESHAWAR: The joy of becoming provincial ministers for two advisers and two special assistants of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) was short-lived after the provincial government on Sunday withdrew orders for their elevation.

The administration department of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on May 27 had issued a notification in which “Chief Minister …is pleased to grant the status of provincial minister” to Adviser to the Chief Minister on Elementary and Secondary Education Ziaullah Khan Bangash, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Energy and Power Himayatullah Khan, Special Assistant to the CM on Industries and Commerce Abdul Karim Khan and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Science and Technology and IT Kamran Khan Bangash.

However, after CM Mahmood Khan returned on Sunday from Umra in Saudi Arabia with some other members of the provincial and federal cabinet, he reversed the decision.

“The competent authority is pleased to withdraw this department’s notification with immediate effect,” read the notice from the K-P Establishment and Administration Department of the Cabinet Wing. Even though the notice was dated for Saturday, June 1, it did not emerge until Sunday.

It added that the advisers and special assistants will continue to work on their posts.
