Police arrest over 150 suspects in past week

44 robbery and car lifting cases were traced and 53 suspects were arrested

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have claimed to have arrested as many as 151 outlaws during the last week of May and recovered stolen items worth more than Rs24.3 million from them, a police spokesperson said on Sunday. Following directions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, the spokesperson said that Operations - Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Waqaruddin Sayed had directed all police officials to accelerate efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrests as per orders of Islamabad Police chief, renewed efforts were made.

Owing to these efforts, 44 robbery and car lifting cases were traced and 53 suspects were arrested and stolen items worth Rs19.5 million including gold ornaments were recovered from them.

Police also claimed to have arrested 15 absconders during this period, while eight suspects were held for bootlegging and drug peddling activities.
