Three JeM leaders convicted of terror financing

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujranwala has convicted three leaders of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) of terror financing.

The ATC found them guilty of the offence of terrorism financing (TF) in three separate cases which had been registered by the Counter Terrorism Department, Gujranwala. Funds collected for TF had been recovered from them.

Convict M Iftikhar has been awarded a sentence of five-year imprisonment and a fine amounting to Rs45,000. Convict Muhammad Ajmal has been awarded five-year imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine, while convict Bilal five-year imprisonment and Rs40,000 fine.

All three have been sent to Central Prison, Gujranwala.

According to the Punjab CTD spokesperson, these investigations and prosecutions “are being followed to stop proscribed organisations from indulging in TF”.

The spokesperson warned the proscribed organisations and their leaders to desist from terror financing otherwise they would be arrested and sent to prison.
