KARACHI: On average, at least two motorcycles are snatched or stolen in Karachi. During the last 24 hours, over 58 motorcycles have been stolen or snatched, The Express Tribune has learnt.

A cursory look at the police data has revealed that incidents of street crimes have seen a marked increase in the holy month of Ramazan.

Armed men snatch and steal motorcycles in broad daylight whenever they want and escape easily. The police, meanwhile, doesn't seem to have a concrete plan to curb the menace.

Of the six districts in Karachi, District Central seems to have become a hotbed of street crimes, with over 19 motorcycles having been either stolen or snatched.

This is followed by District East with 10 motorcycles, nine from Korangi, four from West, eight from South and five from Malir.
