LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that those who are running a planned campaign against NAB and its Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal are instigating rivalry with a prominent national institution. He said their “deplorable” objectives would not be achieved.

He expressed his views on Tuesday in a statement. “Justice Javed Iqbal wants to strengthen NAB as the stability of national institutions is the stability of Pakistan.” He further said that elements hostile towards the country are resorting to different tactics to undermine the prestige of national institutions. “Those targeting Justice Javed Iqbal will not succeed in their deplorable objectives and they will have to account for their doings.”

He said that Chairman NAB has a principled, honest, prestigious and strong personality and those running a campaign should not thing he will leave and they will be able to get some relief.
