ISLAMABAD:

The teachers’ package announced last year for the relief of disgruntled mentors is yet to be implemented. The office bearers of Federal Government Colleges and Model Colleges Association have requested the Director General Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) for the early realization of the PM’s words.

In a meeting with FDE DG Atif Kiyani, representatives of Joint Action Forum, Professor Yasmeen Bokhari, Professor Tahir Mahmood, Professor Abdul Raqeeb and Professor Tariq Baloch drew his attention towards the long standing issue of the Time Scale Promotion of the college teachers.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, they reminded him of the special package which was announced by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on November 8, 2010 during an address to a huge gathering of teachers at the convention centre.

They informed him that the package would especially benefit teachers who have been working in the same grade for the last 20 years. The implementation of the package will accelerate promotions of teachers in future and it will alleviate their economic problems, Bokhari said.

The president of Joint Action Forum (JAF), Professor Zahid Ali Shah thanked the director general for his personal interest and efforts for the promotion of college professors from BPS-18 to BPS-19.
