Demise: Former law officer found dead

A retired district attorney general was found dead inside his home with the doors locked.

GILGIT: The decomposed body of a man was recovered from his house in Gilgit on Monday, police said. The man, identified as Shahid Ajmal Rao, was said to be living alone in his house for a long time, police said, adding that his family, after being unable to contact him for a while, asked local officials in Gilgit to look for him. When his house was checked, he was found dead inside, with the doors locked. According to preliminary information, he was a retired district attorney general, said an official. It was not immediately known how and when he died but police said they have registered a case and started investigations. Meanwhile the body was taken to a government hospital for postmortem.
